The Healing and Support Group meets on the 3rd Monday of each month at 10:00 AM
in the church conference room. Anyone who is grieving the loss of someone, diagnosis of an illness or is a caregiver is welcomed. If you can lend support with your past experiences, come. We have CareNote pamphlets at each door of the church to help you on your path back to health. Sharing your stories is the best medicine. For more information contact Rev. Jay Rowland or Jeanine Parlett-Littlehale. May God watch over you.
Stitch, Pray, Love is a group of needle workers who meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 12:30 in the church conference room. We share ideas for projects and lend support and knowledge on crafts as we socialize and work on our own projects. Along with items for our friends
and family we realize there are organizations that can use hats, scarves, prayer shawls, baby blankets, toys, etc.. There are many options to choose from if you are looking for something to make. All skill levels are welcome as well as ideas and requests for items to be donated. Bring your needles, hooks, hoops, and ideas and join in the fun! For more information contact Brenda Heist bjhh2@verizon.net
Prayer Chain Our prayer chain is complete and waiting to pray for any prayer concerns you may have. Just call, Liscette Headley at (352)255-5454, and we will immediately pass your
request on to Pastor Jay. I will then tell 4 callers, who in turn will inform the other members. We will then be praying for your concern in our daily prayers. If you would like to join our group give Liscette a call.
Women's Bible Study We can all remember hearing — and using— the words, “This is for your own good,” We also understand that God’s rules are definitely for our own good.
However, let’s go a step further. What if we were to view the 10 Commandments, not as a list of “Thou shalt not’s” but as a love letter and a framework for a loving community. The Presbyterian Women’s Bible study planned for this year is entitled “Love Carved in Stone” and takes a deep look at the 10 “Words” in Exodus and Deuteronomy. We call them the 10 Commandments, but the Bible doesn’t use that word. They sound obvious: Don’t murder. Don’t steal, Don’t lie, etc. However, as we look deeper we see more subtle implications for creating a loving community that God claims as God’s own and promises to bless. The Bible study is led by Louise MacCallum. In September they will meet Wednesday September 8th at 10:00am and the 14th at 2:30pm. Feel free to attend either or both meetings. Contact the church office with any questions.
Men's Breakfast meets on the last Wednesday of the month at Bob Evans in Colony Plaza. Meeting time is at 9:00am. All are welcome for a good time and good fellowship. For more information contact Brent Morrow.
A New Christian Education Class Begins This Fall. A new monthly Christian
class will begin Monday September 29th at 11am in the church conference room, meeting on the 4th Monday of each month. Together we'll explore "The Universal Christ" by Richard Rohr, a thought provoking book that invites readers to rediscover Christ's presence in everyday life. Copies are available on Amazon for $8.95. Rev.Jay Rowland will lead the class, guiding discussion and reflection. Whether you read the book or are simply curious, all are welcome to join this enriching journey of faith and discovery.
Ladies' Lunch typically alternates months with the Dining Out Together group. Women of the church get together for lunch at a local restaurant. Day & date change so check the church calendar and let Jan Moe (Janet.moe@icloud.com) know if you plan to attend so she can give the restaurant a heads-up on the total coming.
Dining Out Together generally alternates months with the Ladies’ Lunch. Dinner is planned at local restaurants or one of The Villages’ Country Clubs, often in a private room. Seating at tables of 8 or fewer is common and encourages lively conversation. Couples and singles are welcome. Carolyn Lindgren and Brent Morrow make the arrangements and takes your reservation. Watch the church calendar for upcoming dining opportunities.
Pairs and Spares - Dine In meet bi-monthly in groups of 6 to 8. Hosts rotate and provide the main course and those attending share by bringing a part of the meal (often an appetizer, salad or dessert as suggested by the host). In addition to sharing a meal, lots of interesting talk and often laughter allows us to learn to know one another better. A new season will start by forming new groups. All interested will be invited to attend a get-together mid-October (date TBD) to meet one another and divide into groups which will meet together 4 times (one dinner in Nov-Dec; Jan-Feb; March-April; May-June) at a time/date which works for each small group. If this sounds like something you might enjoy – or if you have questions – please contact Elizabeth Richmond or Nancy Myers
